Eligibility for Work USA
To be eligible for the Work USA program you need to be:
- 18 years of age or older
- A full-time student at tertiary level for this academic year (final year students may apply)
- Must have completed a full year of study prior to departure
- Able to leave for the USA before 31st December
- A New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident. Proof of ties to New Zealand may incur an increased visa fee (reciprocity fee)
Work USA Returners
In order to qualify as a Work USA Returner program you need to meet the above eligibility criteria and have a J-1 visa in your passport from a previous work & travel exchange program to the USA (summer camp does not qualify).
Not Eligible?
If you are not eligible, no worries! We have lots of other work and travel options for you like; a working holiday in Canada, teaching at a Summer Camp in America, working in Britain, Ireland or France and even some amazing Volunteer opportunities.
International Students
The US Consulate will only process your J-1 visa application if you are a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand. If you are not a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand there is a strong possibility that you will be denied a visa by the US Consulate and advised to submit the application through the BUNAC organization in your home country. For this reason we do not recommend that international students apply for the Work USA program.
