There are many great benefits of doing Summer Camp with us:
Great Salary
We are a not-for-profit which means we offer our Summer Camp Counsellors a great deal:
- If you are aged 18 years: $US1,500
- If you are aged 19-20 years: $US1,775
- If you are aged 21+ years: $US1,950
- If you are a returning counselor you are free to negotiate your own salary with the camp directly, salaries are typically US$2,200 or more.
Other Camp programs may offer higher specialist wages but require you to gain and pay for accreditation and training in the USA.
Assistance in Securing Your J-1 Visa
We help you with the paperwork and application requirements to get your J-1 visa.
Full orientation and training in New Zealand and at camp.
Great t-shirt, phone card and travel guidebook.
No living expenses at Camp
You get free food and accommodation for the duration of your time at Camp.
Free transport to camp
You receive free transport from Central New York or your arrival airport directly to camp at no extra cost.
Free hostel night
All first time Counsellors who are requested to arrive into New York will receive one free night hostel accommodation before heading to camp the next day.
Membership to BUNAC
BUNAC, our USA-based parent organisation, provides 24/7 support whether you are on Camp and after you have left camp and are traveling in the USA. Help is just a phone call away.
Free phone card
Before you leave NZ you get an E-kit card with 5 minutes airtime plus a free credit bonus on topup. Don't forget to call Mum and tell her you made it there safely! In addition we also have great deals on SIM cards which you can use to set up a pre-pay account with Fonepool.
Travel after camp
Your J-1 visa allows you to travel the USA for up to 30 days after your Summer Camp contract ends. This is such a fantastic opportunity to experience more of the country.
