Want to go back to the USA?

If you have previously travelled on a J-1 visa to USA you are considered a Returner (when used for a work & travel program, not for summer camp). For Returners the program fee is less and the process is simpler. So, it's all good!

Costs for Work USA Returners

Program Fee: $395

Visa Fee: US$131

SEVIS Fee: US$35

Interviews & Orientation

The interview and orientation requirements for Returners are easier:

• Pre-departure session in NZ is optional
• If you meet specific criteria you may not have to attend a US Consulate interview in Auckland and can submit your application by mail. Contact us to find out whether you meet the criteria

We still recommend that you attend a predeparture as things may have changed since the last time you were in the US.

Group Flights for Returners

It is optional to arrive in the US on one of IEP's group flights. You can arrange your own flights. Do keep in mind that with STA Travel you have access to negotiated group and individual flights. Give our in-house STA Travel agent Katrina a call on 0800 55 66 90.

Insurance for Returners

It is still compulsory to be covered by Travelsure travel insurance purchased through us for the entire length of the program.

Proof of Funds

To be allowed to enter USA on a 4 month J-1 visa you must show a proof of funds of $US600 if you arrive with a job offer and $US1,000 without a job offer.
